The object plays
many roles in Jill’s work from ‘lead’ as in the chair series
to ‘voices off- stage’ as understated implications within the layers
of colour in the ongoing ‘scape’ works.
These most
recent paintings are memory driven by urban and rural experiences
and return to the idea of contemplated landscape.
Florence,
Venice, Canary Wharf, Salford Quays and Morecambe Bay all can be
found in the shapes and colours settling on the canvas.
In other work,
the juxtaposition of functional object, text and glazes of paint
form an unsettling and complex alliance. The work shown here will
form part of a National Touring exhibition in 2008/9
